@MW: Loving Across Differences

Wednesday, October 21 // 6:30pm // Online

In this day and age it is hard to skim the news, look at social media or engage with society without noticing the profound impact of race. If you’ve taken this course before, it’s updated and refreshed from the previous content. In this 6 week course, we will focus on understanding race through 3 themes (History, Identity, Community) and ask “Who is God? And Who Are We?” in response to each of these themes. We will also use the IFS (Internal Family Systems) process to examine the emotions and protective responses you have around race, in a safe, compassionate way. To apply to join the study cohort, please fill out the application form. Led by Ruthie Johnson and Corey Busch

Wednesdays | October 7 – November 11 | 6:30-8pm | Online

@MW: Prophecy That Encourages

Wednesday, October 21 // 7:30pm // Zoom

Paul encourages us in 1 Corinthians 14, “Let love be your highest goal! But you should also desire the special abilities the Spirit gives—especially the ability to prophesy. The one who prophesies strengthens others, encourages them, and comforts them.”

I have found receiving words of prophecy from people in my church community has really helped me grow in following Jesus. And I have seen people’s lives changed as I and others have shared words of prophecy with them. And I have been on the receiving end of “unhelpful, negative, critical words.” I have needed to be set free from the power of these words.

How can you and I grow in sharing prophetic words in ways that help people connect to God and grow? Join Jon Marsden for this 4 week class online and learn together!

Wednesdays | September 30 – October 21 | 7:30pm

Fall Small Church

Sunday, October 25 // 11:00am // Online

Fall Small Church gatherings are small, diverse groups of people at Mercy connecting briefly each Sunday throughout the fall from 11-11:30am for Communion and a Question. Fall Small Churches will connect via Zoom.

Mercy will assign individuals and families to a Fall Small Church with the goal of making space for new relationships and connections as we practice loving and valuing all individuals at Mercy as image bearers of God. Fall Small Church is intended to serve as a Sunday church gathering–it does not replace Growth Group participation. Fall Small Church hosts will facilitate Communion and a Question each week as the corporate Sunday gathering.

Liberation in Faith Group

Monday, October 26 // 7:00pm // Mercy Vineyard Church

“Liberation in Faith” has been a safe space for Black people in and outside of the Mercy community to find God’s invitation for peace and healing. This season, we’re bringing it back as an official Mercy group. Each meeting will be centered around a piece from “Prayers for Dark People” by W. E. B. Du Bois. Members are welcome to buy the book, but it is not required. Starting October 26th, we’ll meet 7pm—8:30pm every other Monday at Mercy with a Google Meet link available for folks who’d like to join virtually.

Tuesday

Child Dedication (Outdoor)

Tuesday, October 27 // 5:30pm // Como Park Fire Pits

A child dedication at Mercy is a way for parents to declare before friends, family and God that you will “direct [your] children onto the right path so that when they’re older, they won’t leave it” (Proverbs 22:6). We believe parenting is a high calling, and we want to support and celebrate you in it as you model a foundation of faith and prayer in your life for your child.

This fall, we are offering two opportunities for child dedication:

Tuesday, October 27, 5:30pm, outdoor at Como Park Fire Pits (filmed)

Sunday, November 8, 10am, indoor at Mercy Vineyard Church (livestreamed)
