Jeff Heidkamp

Co-Lead Pastor

Jeff oversees preaching, teaches classes, and is involved with developing theological and practical vision. He is passionate about empowering women and people of color for leadership. Jeff loves living in the city, watching baseball, listening to the radio, and playing music. He is married to Le Que, who is the best ever, and they have two brilliant, fascinating daughters.

Le Que Heidkamp

Co-Lead Pastor

Le Que is on the preaching team, develops classes and works with staff on operational and organizational development. She serves VineyardUSA by teaching about multiethnic church leadership and church planting. She enjoys reading, writing, and having fun with Jeff and their two daughters.

Mike Buerke

Associate Pastor

As lead associate pastor, Mike works directly with Mercy staff and leaders to develop smooth-operating church services, as well as helps with staff and leadership growth. Additionally, he serves on the finance team. His biggest passions are counseling people, teaching classes, writing, and identifying emerging leaders. His wife Annalisa is awesome and his kids are weird (which is exactly how he likes them). He’s an introvert, but has been known to get really chatty about baseball. His family has called Mercy home since 2009.

Katie Sauter

Associate Pastor

Katie’s an associate pastor at Mercy. She oversees worship, prayer, and care team ministries. Katie has been singing ever since she can remember and has been leading worship for almost as long. She loves seeing people experience the transformational love of Jesus through worship, prayer, and connection with each other. She enjoys cooking, traveling, and watching Netflix shows about both while spending time with husband Dano and their two sons Ezra & Sam.

Tommy Wesley

Associate Pastor

Tommy works part-time at Mercy, serving on the preaching team, leading worship, and meeting with individuals to provide prayer, pastoral counseling, and connection. He founded “Tommy K. Wesley and the Entourage,” and spends time singing and ministering to congregations around the country, sharing the good news of God’s redeeming, healing power. Be it music, preaching, or counseling, Tommy’s hope is to exemplify real Christian living. He is also a devoted father of four children and loving husband of LaVivian.

Kelly Mortvedt

Community Life Pastor

Kelly connects others to the Mercy community through Mercy groups, the coffee team, connection events, and the Welcome Desk. It makes her heart glad to see people connect, thrive, and use their gifts both at Mercy and in their day to day lives. Kelly’s StrengthFinder 2.0 results are: Empathy, Maximizer, Connectedness, Strategic, and Positivity, which translates to a life of endless coffee meetings, Google spreadsheets, and brainstorming/dreaming sessions. Kelly enjoys spending time with her husband Mike, son Judah and newest little one (on the way in September), trying out new Minneapolis restaurants in pursuit of the best fried chicken, and mastering the art of cold brew coffee.

Cassie Smith

Kids Pastor

Cassie leads the kid’s ministry at Mercy because kids are the most fun. She loves building teams and helping people use all they’ve got for God’s Kingdom. Being surprised by the Holy Spirit is her favorite experience… all other surprises are not. As a former math teacher, Cassie gets really jazzed about the problem solving process and loves the gritty side of life in Jesus. She loves to participate in what God is doing with Mercy kids, families, and volunteers. Caffeine, sarcasm, and manual labor are her love languages.

Leo Alves

Youth Pastor

Leo oversees the youth ministry of Mercy. He’s Brazilian, born and raised. He also lived in New Jersey, Kansas City, and most recently Jacksonville, Florida. Leo’s married to the girl of his dreams, Sarah, and is the father of a wonderful little boy named Levi Joshua. Leo is a basketball fanatic, he loves soccer (futebol), and Brazilian steakhouses like all properly raised Brazilians should.

Adam Schalter

Assistant Pastor

Adam assists Mercy's pastors in ministry and leads Mercy's college student community. He also teaches Bible classes and serves on the Preaching Team. Adam is married to an amazingly kind and talented person named Stanzi. Adam has a BFA and BA from Otterbein University (Musical Theatre; Religion), and an MTh in Applied Theology from Oxford University.

Gabe Christensen

Grade School Coordinator

Gabe oversees the K-5 Kids Ministry. During the week he is busy planning the next week’s lesson, scheduling volunteers, and coordinating various facility needs. He enjoys working with kids and helping them feel included and valuable. He’s an avid football and baseball fan, likes to read, watch shows and movies, and finds music to be one of the most inspiring things in the world. He hopes to see the Grade School Ministry continue to grow, help volunteers and kids alike learn more about themselves and their ability to contribute to God’s kingdom here on earth.

Becca Dietz

Communications Lead

Becca manages all aspects of communication at Mercy, including design, advertising, social media, and whatever else we can dream up. She’s most passionate about creative problem solving and making sure the solutions don’t just work but look good too. You can also find her serving with the worship team. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, hiking, and spending time with her husband, Jared.

Markisha Herrod

Office Admin, Kitchen Manager

Markisha enjoys time spent with her five kids, singing, shopping, and cooking. Volunteering on the worship team at Mercy fills her soul because her greatest passion is to witness to people and connect with God through worship.
