Jeff Heidkamp, Co-Lead Pastor

jeff6Jeff is a co-lead pastor along with his wife Le Que. He oversees preaching, vision, and works with the leaders and staff. Jeff and Le Que founded Mercy in 2004. He can’t resist a good dad-joke, listens to podcasts while he cleans the house, and enjoys baseball, cooking, and Nunavut. Le Que Heidkamp, Co-Lead Pastor

leque5Le Que’s a co-lead pastor alongside husband Jeff, and oversees training, technology, and works with staff on operational and organizational development. She serves VineyardUSA by teaching others about multiethnic church leadership and church planting. She enjoys reading, writing, and having fun with Jeff and their two daughters. Mike Buerke, Associate Pastor

As lead associate pastor, Mike works directly with Mercy staff and leaders to develop smooth operating church services, as well as helps with staff and leadership growth. Additionally, he serves on the finance team. His biggest passions are counseling people, teaching classes, writing, and identifying emerging leaders. His wife Annalisa is awesome and his kids (11 and 5) are weird (which is exactly how he likes them). He’s an introvert, but gets really chatty about baseball. Katie Sauter, Associate Pastor

katie1Katie’s an associate pastor at Mercy. She currently oversees worship, prayer, and care team ministries. She’s been singing ever since she can remember and has been leading worship for over 15 years. She loves seeing people experience the transformational love of Jesus through worship, prayer, and connection with each other. She enjoys cooking, black coffee, harmonies, accessories, and summer. Tommy Wesley, Associate Pastor

Tommy works part-time at Mercy. He’s on the preaching team, is a worship leader, and meets with individuals to provide prayer, pastoral counseling, and connection. He founded “Tommy K. Wesley and the Entourage,” and spends time singing and ministering to congregations around the country, sharing the good news of God’s redeeming, healing power. Be it music, preaching, or counseling, Tommy’s hope is to exemplify real Christian living; add to that, he is a devoted father of four children and loving husband of LaVivian. Kelly Mortvedt, Community Life Pastor

Kelly connects others to the Mercy community through small groups, the hospitality team, connection events, and the Welcome & Info Table. It makes her heart glad to see people connect, thrive, and use their gifts both at Mercy and in their day to day. Kelly’s StrengthFinder 2.0 results are: Empathy, Maximizer, Connectedness, Strategic, and Positivity, which translates to a life of endless coffee meetings, Google spreadsheets, and brainstorming/dreaming sessions. Inspired by all things HGTV, one of Kelly’s favorite weekend activities is renovating and decorating her house with her husband Mike, aka “Hunky Husband.” Kelly also enjoys trying out new Minneapolis restaurants in pursuit of the best fried chicken, throwing parties, listening to the Jesus Culture Leadership podcasts, and mastering the art of cold brew coffee. Leo Alves, Youth Pastor

Leo oversees the youth ministry of Mercy. He’s Brazilian, born and raised. He also lived in New Jersey, Kansas City, and most recently Jacksonville, Florida. Leo’s married to the girl of his dreams, Sarah Alves, and just recently became the father of a wonderful little boy named Levi Joshua. Leo is a Basketball fanatic, he loves Soccer (Futebol), and Brazilian SteakHouses like all properly raised Brazilians should. Gabe Christensen, Grade School Ministry Coordinator

Gabe oversees the K-4 Kids Ministry. During the week he is busy planning the next week’s lesson, scheduling volunteers, and coming up with great crafts. He enjoys working with kids and helping them feel included and valuable. He’s an avid football and baseball fan, likes to read, watch TV, and finds music to be one of the most inspiring creations in the world. Kayla Daigle, Communications Lead

Kayla serves as the Communications Lead for Mercy. She takes care of the event announcements, advertising, media, and design. Her goal is to make all information easily accessible and applicable to visitors and members. Adam Schalter, Early Childhood Coordinator & Research Assistant

Adam’s a leader here at Mercy, while he also purses an MDiv at Bethel Seminary. His interests include all things theological, theatrical, and Michigan State Spartans. Adam is married to an amazingly kind and talented person named Stanzi. Adam has a BFA and BA from Otterbein University (Musical Theatre; Religion) and an MTh in Applied Theology from Oxford University. Markisha Herrod, Office Administrator
